This Keratograph – 5M (color camera) images the cornea, the clear domed portion of the front of the eye and provides us with data necessary to evaluate the true topography (high and low points) of the cornea. This data is needed when determining candidates for refractive conditions such as Lasik or PRK.

This also helps us to detect and monitor conditions such as astigmatism (regular and irregular), corneal degeneration as well as identifying conditions such as Keratoconus and post corneal transplants. With this data, we can design, prescribe and fit standard, specialty custom and medically necessary contact lenses with precise accuracy.

This camera also helps us in the detection and management of the Dry Eye patient. The 5M can measure and analyze the eye’s tear film, the quantity, and quality of meibomian glands and helps us chart the progression or improvement of insufficient tear film conditions.

The Optos Daytona scanning laser ophthalmoscope produces ultra-widefield (UWF™), high resolution optomap images of the retina, something no other device is capable of doing in a single capture. The high-resolution image takes less than 0.4 seconds to capture and is painless.

An optomap image provides a bigger picture and provides our doctors with more clinical information which helps with the early detection, management and effective treatment of disorders and diseases such as retinal detachments, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Our practice features a unique and powerful eye scanning system called SPECTRALIS® OCT, which is an ophthalmic imaging platform with the ability to capture images of the front and/or back of the eye. This technology is capable of taking 40,000 scans per second and uses MultiColor Scanning Laser Imaging. It simultaneously uses three laser wavelengths to display distinct structures within the retina not visible via traditional fundus photography.

The OCT allows us to detect potentially debilitating diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), macular holes, retinal edema, and glaucoma in their earliest stages and help to treat and monitor multiple conditions.

These large diameter lenses vault over the entire corneal surface and rest on the “white” of the eye (the sclera). Because of their size, scleral lenses are more stable on the eye than conventional GP lenses, so they are less likely to accidentally dislodge from the eye. This stability can also make them more comfortable than conventional GP lenses.

Scleral lenses provide superb vision and comfort, especially for those struggling with keratoconus, dry eye, post-surgery LASIK and corneal transplant complications and much more.
